Virginia 811 is a not-for-profit organization created by Virginia's utilities to protect their underground facilities. Our service is FREE! We ask everyone to do their part to protect underground utility lines that provide you and your community with essential utility services.

Contact 811 before you dig is the LAW.

If you are planning any type of digging project, you should contact us just to be on the safe side. Many utilities, such as cable television lines, are buried very close to the surface. There is no cost to the homeowner for our service and protection.

Before you dig, submit a Single Address Ticket to request markings at your project site. Markings are color-coded lines that are drawn on your property to indicate the location of underground utilities.
